Softbank Hawks

Takahiro Mahara (right shoulder) worked out for about three hours at the Saitozaki training facilities on Tuesday.  There is still no timetable on his return, but the fact that he is able to do a wider range of exercises indicates good progress -- he had been focusing on his lower but recently started a shoulder strengthening program.

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito threw about forty pitches in the bullpen at Yahoo Dome today.  Saito also threw about sixty pitches in the bullpen on Tuesday.

Seibu Lions

Kazuhisa Makita threw about eighty pitches in the bullpen after his start tonight was rained out.  His next start will likely come on April 16 against the Nippon Ham Fighters.

The Lions announced today that Otsu mayor Naomi Koshi will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on April 19.

Orix Buffaloes

Dae-Ho Lee had a crick in his neck on Tuesday from sleeping on it wrong.  It was the reason why Akinobu Okada used him at DH instead of at first.

Rakuten Eagles

Kenji Tomura's start was rained out tonight.  He is unlikely to pitch again until his next scheduled start on April 13 (vs Nippon Ham).

Akihisa Makita missed three games (April 6-8) because of discomfort in his right calf but was back in the starting line-up Tuesday night (RF/batting sixth) and went 2-for-4.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Shunsuke Watanabe and Hayden Penn have yet to start games this season.  Penn, whose start was rained out tonight, will get another chance on Thursday.  S. Watanabe, Thursday's original starter, will likely have to wait until April 19 (vs Rakuten at QVC Marine).

Shingo Ono started a Ni-gun game against Yakult on Tuesday and gave up two runs on six hits over six innings of work.  He also struck out two, walked two, and hit one batter.
