Ichiro Suzuki (SEA) started in right and batted third.  He went 1-for-4: fly out to center, single to left, ground out to first, pop out to third in foul territory. [Nikkan Sports, Nikkan Sports, Sponichi]

New York Yankees 5 - LA Angels 0
Hiroki Kuroda (NYY) started the game and tossed eight shutout innings.  Final line: 8 IP, 109-71 NP-S, 29 BF, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO, 0 HR.  Kuroda got the win and is now 1-1. [Sponichi, Nikkan Sports, Nikkan Sports]

Tsuyoshi Nishioka (ROC) started at second and batted first.  He went 1-for-4: ground out to short, single to second, strikeout looking, strikeout looking.

Junichi Tazawa (PAW) entered the game in the bottom of the 6th and tossed two shutout inning in relief.  Final line: 2 IP, 29-20 NP-S, 7 BF, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO, 0 HR.


Mike Cameron threw out the ceremonial first pitch on FridayIchiro Suzuki (SEA) got behind home plate and received the toss.


Hiroki Kuroda (NYY) walked off the field to a standing ovation but did not tip his cap.  When asked why, he said to reporters, "I may have thought about it if this were the last game of the World Series.  But we are still at the start of the season."


Takashi Saito (ARI) tossed one inning in a minor league practice game on Friday.  He topped out at 145km/h.
