Yomiuri Giants

Toshiya Sugiuchi's start on Friday was rained out.  His next start will come against Chunichi on April 17 (Nagoya Dome).

Sugiuchi threw forty-one pitches in the bullpen at Giants Stadium today.  He also had a chance to speak to Masumi Kuwata, who happened to drop by because of a canceled youth baseball game.

Shun Tono threw forty-two pitches in the bullpen today.

===

If Ryosuke Miyaguni won his start today, he would have become the first pitcher in franchise history, under the age of twenty, to record two victories in two games since Hiroshi (Teruzo) Nakao in 1939.

Hanshin Tigers

Craig Brazell was left out of the starting line-up today because of conjunctivitis.

===

According to Sports Hochi Osaka and Sanspo, since joining the Tigers, Jason Standridge is 4-4 with a 5.33 ERA in twelve day games and 18-9 with a 2.73 ERA in thirty-nine night games.

Standridge's next start will likely be a day game on April 21 (vs Yokohama at Yokohama).

Sponichi wonders if something might be wrong with Atsushi Nomi because he did not play catch during pre-game practice on Saturday.  The also mention how he seemed worried about his finger during his last start on Friday.  Pitching coach Keiichi Yabu did tell reporters that Nomi was fine.

===

Hiroaki Saiuchi started an Ikusei game against Nippon Shinyaku on Saturday and tossed three shutout innings while allowing two hits.  He topped out at 143km/h.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Kiyoshi Nakahata would like his batters to work opposing pitchers harder.

"If you calculate ten foul balls per batter, that would be enough even to drag power pitchers off the mound.  And you get another chance after every pitch you foul off.  Persistence is the basics of our game."

===

Before today's game against the Yomiuri Giants, Nakahata apologized to both Tatsunori Hara and Takayuki Terauchi for the HBP to the head during Friday's game at Yokohama.
