Brad Penny returned to Japan today and is expected to report to the Saitozaki training facilities on Thursday.

Akira Nakamura played in a Ni-gun game against Hanshin today (started in right, batted first) and went 3-for-5: double to right in the 1st inning; infield single in the 3rd inning; run-scoring single to right in the 7th inning.

Hiroki Kokubo was left out of the starting line-up today because of tightness in his lower back.  He did take part in pre-game workouts (batting practice, running).

Said Kokubo, "This is not something that developed yesterday or today.  I have had this for a while now.  I do not have any problems swinging the bat, but fielding is another story."

Chiba Lotte Marines

Carlos Rosa will most likely be sent down to Ni-gun on Thursday after another lackluster outing.  According to Yahoo Sports' pitch tracker, sixteen of the twenty-two pitches Rosa threw tonight were out of the strike zone.
