Softbank Hawks

Brad Penny is scheduled to begin his rehab training at the Saitozaki facilities on Friday.

Nippon Ham Fighters

If Asunori Inaba reaches 2,000 career hits during the team's home stand between May 1 and 6, the Fighters plan to hold a post-game press conference on the field immediately after the game.  Inaba would join Tsuyoshi Shinjo, Yuki Saito, and Yu Darvish as the only players in franchise history to hold a press conference on the field at Sapporo Dome.

Takumi Oshima has been using a shorter bat at Ni-gun: an Eiichi Koyano model bat that is eighty-six centimeters long and weighs 930 grams.  That is down from eighty-eight centimeters and 940-950 grams.

Seibu Lions

Hisanobu Watanabe reportedly told Ryoma Nogami that he will make his first Ichi-gun start of the year on April 21 (vs Lotte at QVC Marine) while the team was waiting for the Shinkanesen at Shinagawa Station.

Said Watanabe, "I decided on [Nogami] the day Wakui [gave up four runs in three innings against Orix on April 15."

Hisashi Takayama was given a stern warning and fined 50,000 yen by the commissioner's office for getting ejected from a Ni-gun against Yomiuri on April 18 for using harsh language against an umpire.

The Lions figure Hideaki Wakui will need about a month to get back to normal.
