Shinya Miyamoto took a line drive hit by Shingo Kawabata off his left leg during pre-game practice today. Miyamoto disappeared into the dugout while telling reporters he was fine; Kawabata quickly followed to make sure everything was ok.
In the end, it may have jolted Miyamoto back to life since he ended up going 2-for-4 tonight against the Hanshin Tigers. Coming into tonight, he had just one hit in his last eighteen trips to the plate.
Rookies Kazuo Ito, Hiroaki Saiuchi, Ryoma Matsuda, Naoto Nishida, and Seiya Hirokami had a chance to watch the Yakult-Hanshin game from the infield stands at Koshien on Wednesday.
Takumi Akiyama started a Ni-gun game against Softbank today and gave up six runs on eight hits over five innings of work.
Hiroyuki Kobyashi started a Ni-gun game against Softbank on Wednesday and tossed five shutout innings while allowing three hits.
The media learned on Wednesday that the Carp will hold their spring camp in Nichinan, Miyazaki for about a month next year. Hiroshima usually splits their camp between Okinawa and Miyazaki, but with Okinawa Stadium undergoing renovations, they were forced to find another location.

Yokohama Bay Stars
The Bay Stars became the first team in the NPB to lose ten games this season on Wednesday night. The last time they were the first team to ten losses: 2009 when they started things off 4-10.
Yokohama also started the year off with five straight losses against the Hiroshima Carp.
