Daisuke Matsuzaka (BOS) is scheduled to start a Single-A Salem game on April 23 (about seventy-five pitches).  It will be his first game since May 16, 2011.  He will ultimately get to pitch in about five minor league games before he rejoins the MLB roster some time in May.

Matsuzaka threw forty-two pitches in the bullpen on Friday.

Hiroki Kuroda (NYY) threw thirty-six pitches in the bullpen on Friday in preparation for his start against Texas on April 23.

According to Sponichi, Takashi Saito (ARI) re-injured his right calf during fielding practice on Friday (he was in the process of fielding a bunt down the first base line).  His outing on Saturday has been canceled.  He is scheduled to return to Phoenix for a evaluation.

"It is not in the same exact place as the last injury.  But I feel it might be worse than the last injury," said Saito.

Sponichi mentions that Tsuyoshi Wada (BAL) was working through neck stiffness since earlier this month.  The team will wait to see how he is feeling before deciding when he pitches again.
