Softbank Hawks

Brad Penny joined the rehab group for workouts at the Saitozaki training facilities on Friday.

According to Sports Hochi OsakaWily Mo Pena jokingly told reporters he wants to add about twenty to thirty more centimeters on his fly balls to right because he gets too tired running out triples.

Sponichi goes into the conversation a bit more, explaining that Pena was asking Sadaharu Oh for advice on how to add twenty to thirty centimeters on his fly balls to right.  Oh then replied, "You will want to strengthen your legs for the summer months. ... Hitting is like an eel, it is a constant cycle of feeling like you got it, and then letting it get away.  You are hitting now, that is good."

Seibu Lions

Kazuhisa Ishii recorded a win on Friday and has now won at least one game over twenty consecutive seasons (NPB + MLB).

Nippon Ham Fighters

The person conducting Yuki Saito's hero interview on Friday night was the same person that was in the NHK broadcast booth for the 2006 Summer Koshien Finals games.

Nikkan Sports has posted the following numbers on Saito from this season:

No one one: 16-for-75 (.213)
Runner on first: 6-for-19 (.316)
Runners in scoring position: 3-for-22 (.136)

Orix Buffaloes

Ming-Chieh Hsu will likely be demoted after his rough outing today: 0.2 IP, 6 BF, 23 NP, 1 H, 3 BB, 2 R, 2 ER.

About three-hundred fireworks were fired off into the sky above Hotto Motto after the 5th inning of Friday night's game against the Nippon Ham Fighters.

Rakuten Eagles

Akinori Iwamura played in a Ni-gun game against Nippon Ham today (DH, batted lead-off) and went 0-for-3.  It was his first game since he strained his right hamstring on March 14.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Takashi Ogino is scheduled to play in a Ni-gun game against Seibu today.  Tatsuya Uchi will likely pitch on Sunday (same series).
