The Dragons will likely start the following three pitchers against the Yakult Swallows (at Jingu): Daisuke Yamai (Tuesday), Kenichi Nakata (Wednesday), and Kazuki Yoshimi (Thursday).
The position players had the day off today, but Kazuhiro Hatakeyama spent some time taking batting practice at the indoor Jingu facilities. Hatakeyama went 0-for-4 on Sunday and now has just three hits in his last twenty-two trips to the plate (that also includes five strikeouts and one RBI).
Chairman Tsuneo Watanabe on the Giants current record, via Nikkan Sports: "You know about compassion, right? The team has gone through two five-game losing streaks and is currently seven games under .500. You guys grab that man and ask him to say something. That is harsh. Remember compassion? Ask me next year. Next year."
The Giants usually give their players the day off on days they do not play any games. But with their struggles at the plate, they held a hitting workout at Giants Stadium for the second time this season.
"I wanted to hold a practice session where everyone could just focus. I want to thank everyone for their cooperation. Figuring out how we came to where we are now. Everyone needs to think about where they are and get through this rough stretch," said Tatsunori Hara.
