The Japan Professional Baseball Players Association (JPBPA) held meetings with the NPB and the twelve teams in Hyogo today.  Amongst the issues discussed:

  • The players are concerned about the dip in homers from last season and would like the league to review the new standard baseball.  The twelve teams are planning to take the request into consideration.
  • The players would also like the twelve teams to consider granting players free agency based on their ages, like for players that turn thirty-four or thirty-five.  They are also pushing to for general free agency after seven years.
  • No new progress was made on the World Baseball Classic front.
