Hideki Kuriyama celebrated his fifty-first birthday today.
Takahiro Okada tweaked his left hamstring during his fourth at bat in the 8th inning tonight and was replaced by a pinch-runner after hitting a double to left. Okada had the area iced down after he was removed from the game. He will most likely be examined at a hospital on Friday.
Hayato Terahara started a Ni-gun game against Softbank today and tossed six shutout innings while allowing four hits. It was Terahara's first outing since he was taken off the active roster on April 7 with lower back pain.
Kei Igawa is scheduled to make his third Ni-gun start on May 1 (vs Hanshin at Koshien). For Igawa, it will be his first game at Koshien since October 8, 2006.
