Tsuruga Kehi High School announced on Friday that they were withdrawing from the 128th Hokushinestu Regional High School Fukui Prefecture Tournament due to violence on the team.
According to the high school, on April 22, at around 10pm, two second year students slapped four first year students in the head/face and kicked one first year student in the buttocks while warning them about their lifestyles. None of the five students suffered physical injuries.
Manager Teppei Azuma was contacted on April 23, after the first year students informed their parents of what happened. The school opened an investigation and contacted the Fukui Baseball Federation on April 25. An official report was filed on April 26.
The first and second year students have apologized to one another and a peaceful understanding was reached.
The two second year students were on the Senbatsu (Spring Koshien) roster.
