Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons announced today that former franchise winningest pitcher Shigeru Sugishita will present new franchise winningest pitcher Masahiro Yamamoto with flowers before the start of Thursday's game at Nagoya Dome.

A woman living in Aichi was selling a counterfeit Chunichi Championship patch for 2,500 yen a piece.  She was "outed" when a fan contacted the team about the item.  The Dragons announced today that the Central League issued a warning to the woman; she responded by stopping all sales of the patch.

The Dragons' stance on fan-made items: "Fans are free to make items for their own personal use, but selling them is against the law and we can file for damages.  We would like the fans to follow the rules."

There are only two authorized items that carry the Championship logo: actually player uniforms and pro model uniforms the Dragons started selling for 29,000 yen on April 26.

Yomiuri Giants

Shinnosuke Abe (lower back) was not in the starting line-up again tonight.  Head coach Kaoru Okazaki told reporters today that Abe is not expected to miss a lot of a time.  He will likely begin taking batting practice tomorrow.

Hanshin Tigers

Tomoaki Kanemoto went 1-for-3 tonight and is now one hit away from moving into an eighth place tie with Shigeo Nagashima on the All-time list.
