Seibu, Orix: May 4, 2012

by on May.04, 2012 @ 11:55 pm, under NPB

Seibu Lions

Hideaki Wakui was called up today in order to help bolster the bullpen and take over Enrique Gonzalez's role as closer.  Wakui threw sixty pitches in the Seibu 2 Stadium bullpen on Thursday.

Wakui pitched the 9th in today's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines and needed six pitches to retire the three batters he faced.  For Wakui, it was his first regular season relief appearance in his career (he did make a relief appearance during the 2008 Nippon Series).

Orix Buffaloes

Tomotaka Sakaguchi was benched today because of struggles at the plate.  He did make it into the game as a pinch-hitter and ultimately went 0-for-2.  That gives him just one hit in his last fifteen trips to the plate and six in his last forty-four trips.

The Orix batting lineup again has become a total joke. Kajimoto, Hidaka, Kawabata, Suzuki, Moriyama etc. It’s a ni-gun lineup. Akinobu Okada is headed back to the cellar. When teams like Softbank have a hole they fix it. Orix recycles rejects.

Another ni-gun moment. With two outs and runners on first and third. Kajimoto misplays an easy flyball. Two runs score. Orix loses 3-2.

Plus the bottom 3 spots Miyazaki, Suzuki, Kajimoto, Hidaka PH struckout 7 times in 10 at bats. With ni-gun level players you get ni-gun level results. Why doesn’t Orix just go out and get a rightfielder instead of recycling Moriyama, Yoshida, Akada, Kajimoto, Miyazaki, Kawabata,Shunta etc. Non of them can play! Get Vladamir Guerrero!
