According to Sponichi: The Fighters scored eight runs on nine hits in the 6th inning of last night's game against the Chiba Lotte Marines.  The last time the Fighters scored eight or more runs in one inning: September 9, 2011 vs Rakuten, eight runs in the 6th inning.  The last time they collected nine or more hits in one inning: July 28, 2005 vs Rakuten, nine hits in the 7th inning.  And for the third time in franchise history (1962, 1996, 2012), the Fighters became the first team to win twenty games in either league.

Nikkan Sports adds that the twenty wins in the first thirty-four games of the season is the eighth quickest in franchise history.  The other seven times: 1962 in twenty-three games; 1961, 1963, and 2009 in thirty-two games; and 1996, 1998, and 2011 in thirty-three games.

Yuki Saito threw thirty pitches in the bullpen on Tuesday and told reporters, "The fatigue in my shoulder is going away.  I think my body is getting used to pitching on five days of rest."
