Hiroshima Carp to lose Higashide, Stavinoha for extended period of time

by on Jun.12, 2012 @ 11:15 pm, under NPB

The Carp announced today that Akihiro Higashide was diagnosed with a fracture in his right middle finger (distal phalanx) while Nick Stavinoha suffered both an ACL and a medial meniscus injury.  Higashide will likely require about two months before he can start workouts again; there is no set timetable for Stavinoha.

Hiroshima plans to begin their search for a player that can help fill in for the loss of both players.

Injuries taking their toll on the Hiroshima lineup with Kurihara already out, they don’t have much hope if they don’t find some good replacements. Which is hard to do, especially in the middle of the season. How did Stavinoha get hurt?

I see that Toronto just release Vladimir Guerrero from 3a Las Vegas. That would be a good pick up for a team…. Maybe Hanshin :)
