Micah Hoffpauir was presented with the Universal Home MVP of the Game 10M Yen Award on Friday for his walk-off sac hit.  The award is not money, but rather credit towards building a house in Sapporo, Hokkaido.  Hoffpauir, perhaps jokingly, told reporters that he might be looking for someone building a house.  Source: Nikkan Sports 6/17/2012

Akinobu Okada was frustrated that Shinya Nakayama and Toshio Saito went with a fastball to Masahiro Araki during Saturday's game against the Chunichi Dragons.

"I was surprised," said Okada.  "I just finishing telling them to be careful of throwing [the fastball] the previous inning.  I think an amatuer could see that one coming."

Nikkan Sports has a slightly different quote from Okada: "I was surprised.  Really surprised.  An amateur could tell [Masahiro] Araki was looking for a fastball.  I am dumbfounded.  It was like ten minutes after I told them to be careful.  They just do the opposite of what I tell them, so of course they get hit."

Pitchers were also told before the game that Araki was a good fastball hitter.  Source: Sponichi 6/17/2012

Okada needs to be fired. He talked about winning the championship before the season. Buffaloes obviously don’t respond to him. They have more losses than Yokohama. That fact alone is cause for termination.
