Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons will likely start Kenichi Nakata and Soma Yamauchi this weekend against the Hiroshima Carp.  That will put them in line for starts against the Yomiuri Giants the following weekend.  Source: Sports Hochi Osaka 6/19/2012

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants held a press conference today to introduce newcomers Yuki Kume and Soichiro Tateoka.  Source: Sanspo 6/19/2012

Tatsunori Hara may opt to start his best pitchers on the weekends (Toshiya Sugiuchi, Tetsuya Utsumi, and Dennis Houlton) because the team will be facing Yakult (June 23/24), Chunichi (June 30/July 1 and July 14/15), and Hanshin (July 7/8) over the next four weekends.

The starting rotation will also likely include Hirokazu Sawamura, Shun Tono, and Dicky Gonzalez.

Nikkan Sports notes Tono and Gonzalez will join a starting four that includes Sugiuchi, Utsumi, Sawamura, and Houlton.  With regards to Ryosuke Miyaguni, he may not be ready to the active roster until mid-July.

Sanspo mentions that the starting three could go from Utsumi, Sawamura, Houlton to Utsumi, Sawamura, and Sugiuchi.  A separate Sanspo article figures Gonzalez and Tono will get starts against Hiroshima on June 27 and 28.

Nikkan Sports reports that Shuichi Murata ordered a new type of bat from Mizuno -- his current bat is weighted toward the handle for inside pitches and is about twenty grams lighter; the new bat will weigh the normal 930 to 940 grams.  Whether or not it will be ready by June 22 is not yet know.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers are thinking about adding Ikusei pitcher Robert Zarate to the seventy-man roster some time in July.  But before they do, they will give him a look during Ichi-gun workouts at Koshien Wednesday -- he is scheduled to pitch during situational batting practice.

Ni-gun stats: 15 G, 1-0, 17.1 IP, 10 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 22 SO, 1 R, 0 ER, 0.00 ERA

Hanshin currently have sixty-eight players on the seventy-man roster.

With the six-game schedule starting back up again, Yutaka Wada is thinking about whether or not to give Tomoaki Kanemoto regular periods of rest.  Wada could turn to players like Ryota Arai and Yuya Nohara to take his spot in the outfield and Craig Brazell and Takahiro Arai to take his hitting slot in the line-up on days he sits.  Shinjiro Hiyama is also an option.  Source: Sports Hochi Osaka 6/19/2012

Hiroshima Carp

Hiroshima is hoping Dennis Sarfate will be able ok to rejoin the active roster on June 26.  Source: Sanspo 6/19/2012

The Carp see Brad Eldred as a Adrian Garrett (1977-1979) type of player.  Source: Daily Sports 6/19/2012

Yokohama Bay Stars

Ikusei pitcher Kosuke Tomita was called up on Monday to toss batting practice to Randy Ruiz.  In doing so, he also impressed Kiyoshi Nakahata.  Unfortunately, once they activate Ruiz, they will have no room on their seventy-man roster.  Source: Daily Sports 6/19/2012
