Yoshinobu Takahashi banged his left knee against the wall while sliding to catch fly ball hit by Kensuke Tanaka in the top of the 8th inning of Saturday's game against the Nippon Ham Fighters.  Takahashi was taken out of the game as a precaution.  Source: Sponichi 6/24/2012

Shigeo Nagashima visited Tokyo Dome on Saturday and spent about twenty minutes in the manager's room.  When reporters later asked Nagashima what he said to Tatsunori Hara, he replied, "We just talked about baseball today.  Just baseball."  Source: Sponichi 6/24/2012

Hanshin Tigers

Takumi Akiyama started a Ni-gun game against Orix on Saturday and did not allow a run over six innings of work.  He also topped out at 143km/h.  Final line: 6 IP, 82 NP, 21 BF, 3 H, 4 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Akiyama could make it back to Ichi-gun for a start against Yakult on June 30.

Takashi Shimizu had his back (left portion) examined on Saturday.  No problems with found with his bones, but he will be monitored over the next three days.  That gave the Tigers just two catchers at Ni-gun to play two games today: Ni-gun vs Orix and Ikusei vs Shiga Takashima Baseball Club (Industrial League).  Source: Sanspo 6/24/2012
