Orix Buffaloes: Chihiro Kaneko taken off active roster with right elbow inflammation

by on Jun.25, 2012 @ 8:09 pm, under NPB

Chihiro Kaneko was taken off the active roster today.  Kaneko felt discomfort in his right elbow on Friday and was examined at a hospital in Kobe today.  MRI scans revealed inflammation.  There is currently no timetable for his return; the team will take it day-by-day.

Kei Igawa could be called up to take Kaneko's next turn in the rotation.

This is why you don’t pitch a guy on a 5 day rest when he isn’t used to pitching like that. I understand the Buffaloes are lacking in quality starters, but you don’t risk losing your best pitcher by doing something that isn’t done reguarly.

With Iwakuma, Darvish, Wada, and Sugiuchi all gone (either to MLB or CL), I enjoyed watching Kaneko the most. I don’t really enjoy watching Tanaka much, so I guess I better turn my attention to Kamata.
