Nippon Ham Fighters: Koyano, Kaneko leave game early

Eiichi Koyano and Makoto Kaneko left the game early after suffering injuries.

Koyano took a thrown ball of his helmet while running the bases in the bottom of the 1st inning.  He was replaced by Kenshi Sugiya at third before the start of the second inning.   Koyano was conscious and suffered a laceration on the right side of his head.  He was taken to the hospital for an examination as a precaution.

Kaneko felt discomfort in his left knee while playing defense in the 1st inning and was replaced by Yuji Iiyama at short before the start of the 3rd inning.

UPDATE @ 10:30pm - Test results came back negative for Koyano.  He did require nine stitches to close the laceration on the right side of his head.  There are currently no plans to take Koyano off the active roster.  Source: Sponichi 6/26/2012
