Tsutsugo got the start in right for the first time in his Ichi-gun career. He also committed a fielding error in the bottom of the 1st that allowed a runner on first to advance to third on a single to right. ... The Bay Stars dropped their fifth in a row. They have also lost their last five at Mazda Stadium.
Hiroshima: K. Maeda got the win and is 8-3 in fifteen starts. He is also 4-0 in five starts since his last loss on May 26 (vs Orix). This was also the fiftieth victory of his career. ... Mickolio recorded his sixth save of the year. ... Iwamoto extended his hitting streak to seventeen games. ... The Carp stopped a two-game losing streak. They also won their ninth straight against the Bay Stars. ... Akamatsu threw Nakamura out at home in the 5th inning (runners on first and second, two out, Tsutsugo hit a single to center).
This game was a bit weird. It looked as if there was going to be a few runs scored, but both pitchers pitched exceptionally well after that rought first inning. That was expected from Maeda, but both teams certainly had their chances to score a few more runs.
