Yomiuri Giants

The Giants may have scratched Shoki Kasahara from his start against the Chunichi Dragons on Sunday because of a bad bullpen session on Friday (he threw about sixty pitches and struggled with his balance).

"We thought [Kasahara] could get the start, so this is really too bad.  The manager has final say, but it does not look good," said pitching coach Kazuhisa Kawaguchi.

NPB commissioner Ryozo Kato was at Tokyo Dome on Friday to present Toshiya Sugiuchi with an award for his no-hitter.  He also had a chance to meet Tatsunori Hara before the game.

"I am aware of the problems reported by the media.  I told him I wanted him to do his best to focus on baseball," said Kato.
