At thirty-nine years and nine month, Nishiguchi is the second oldest to reach the milestone.  He is also the third pitcher in franchise history to 2,500 innings.

The Lions also decided to take Nishiguchi off the active roster for one start because of his poor outing: 3 IP, 14 BF, 8 H, 1 SO, 1 BB, 5 R, 5 ER.  Source: Nikkan Sports 7/6/2012

Rakuten Eagles

Masahiro Tanaka was a late scratch tonight with discomfort in his right shoulder.  Source: Daily Sports 7/6/2012

Said Tanaka, via Daily Sports, "There was concern it could get bad if I pitched so after talking it over with the coaches, we decided to stop before it could get worse.  I personally do not think it is a major problem."

Chiba Lotte Marines

Yuki Karakawa won his eighth game of the year on Thursday.  He will likely pitch on five days of rest until the All-Star break.  That should give him two more starts and a shot at ten victories before the break.  Source: Nikkan Sports 7/5/2012
