Softbank Hawks

Wily Mo Pena and Yuichi Honda were left out of the starting line-up today: Pena with a contusion to his right hand and Honda with pain in his neck.  Both players did arrive at the stadium but did not take part in batting practice.  Source: Nikkan Sports 7/7/2012

Seibu Lions

Takayuki Kishi was taken off the active roster today with discomfort in the area behind his left knee.  Kishi took a batted all off the area during his last start on June 26 (vs Lotte).  He is expected to return to the active roster in ten days for one last start before the All-Star break (vs Nippon Ham).  Source: Daily Sports 7/7/2012

Takeya Nakamura could see some playing time during a three-game series against Ni-gun Yakult (July 10-12).  If everything is ok, he could return to the active roster as early as some time next week.  Source: Sanspo 7/7/2012

Rakuten Eagles

Masahiro Tanaka started feeling discomfort in his right flank/oblique after leaving the team hotel for Seibu Dome on Friday.  He started workouts and ran some dashes and played some catch before his conversation with the coaches resulted in a late scratch.  Source: Daily Sports 7/7/2012

Sponichi notes that according to Senichi Hoshino, the announcement about discomfort in his right shoulder was incorrect.

The Eagles do not plan on taking Tanaka off the active roster at this point and will monitor him over the next couple days before determining what steps to take next.  At this point, they are hoping he will be ok to make a start during the last series before the All-Star break (vs Lotte, July 16-18 at QVC Marine).  If he is not able to make at least one start before the break, it is possible he may also not be able to pitch in one of the three All-Star games.

There have been twenty-seven late scratches (after starters have been announced).  Of the twenty-seven pitchers that replaced original starters, only five have recorded victories.  The Eagles have had three late scratches and Friday night's replacement starter, Takahiro Shiomi, was the first to record a victory.  Source: Sponichi 7/7/2012
