Softbank Hawks

Shota Takeda's next start will likely come against the Chiba Lotte Marines (at Yahoo Dome) on July 14.  Takeda is also preparing contact lenses for the start -- his vision is not bad, but he some times has trouble seeing the catcher's signs.  Source: Sports Hochi Osaka 7/10/2012

The Hawks also do not plan on lifting their eighty or so pitch limit on Takeda.  Source: Daily Sports 7/10/2012

Takeda will continue to smile when he pitches -- seems some people made a fuss about how he smiled too much during his last start and how that could be taken the wrong way by opposing teams.  Source: Nikkan Sports 7/10/2012

Nippon Ham Fighters

Yuki Saito will be getting a new glove for the second half of the season that will also include his uniform number and a tiny caricature near the base of the thumb area.  He plans to unveil/use the new glove during the All-Star series.  Source: Sponichi 7/10/2012

Saito's first start in the second half will likely be against the Orix Buffaloes on July 29.  Source: Nikkan Sports 7/10/2012

Atsunori Inaba is trying to change things up to help the team win.  On Sunday, he suggested everyone use intro songs performed by J-pop group Southern All-Stars.  He is now thinking about giving out a reward to help push players forward.  Source: Sponichi 7/10/2012

Orix Buffaloes

Kei Igawa is currently slated to start Wednesday's game against the Rakuten Eagles (at Kleenex Stadium).  Source: Sports Hochi 7/10/2012

Chihiro Kaneko could end up missing more time than originally expected -- since he was scratched from his start on June 23 (vs Seibu at Seibu Dome), the Buffaloes still have no timetable on when he will be able to start playing catch.

Said Akinobu Okada, "We have shut Kaneko down.  After the All-Star break?  No, it will take some time."

Tanaka, with help from Hayato Sakamoto (Yomiuri) and Kenta Maeda (Hiroshima), is also working towards organizing the 1988 Club (for players born in 1988).  Fifty-five NPB players (including Ikusei) were born in 1988.  Source: Sponichi 7/10/2012, Nikkan Sports 7/10/2012

Chiba Lotte Marines

Yuki Karakawa will be scratched from his start on Wednesday because of possible tightness in his back.  Shingo Ono will likely get the start instead.  Source: Sports Hochi 7/10/2012

Said Norifumi Nishimura, via Sponichi, "The tightness has not gone away.  We will decide on his next start while we are in Sapporo."

Nikkan Sports' quote from Nishimura includes Softbank and Rakuten as possible options.
