Notes

There was a fifty-nine minute rain delay partway through the bottom of the 8th inning (fifth pitch to Sakamoto with a runner on first and one out).

HR: HIR: Iwamoto (5, one on, off Gonzalez).

Hiroshima: K. Maeda got the win and is 9-3 in sixteen starts.  He is also 5-0 over his last six starts since his last loss on May 26 (vs Orix).  Maeda stopped a personal four-game losing streak (over five starts) against the Giants with his first victory since August 6, 2010. ... Mickolio saved his eleventh game of the year. ... The Carp snapped a three-game losing streak against the Giants.

Yomiuri: Gonzalez dropped his first game of the year and is 3-1 in six starts. ... The Giants' five-game winning streak came to an end.

    It’s at Gifu stadium, so I don’t expect the game to be a pitcher’s game.
