Rakuten Eagles

Motohiro Shima has invited 420 students and 30 teachers from Yamoto Dai Ni Junior High School to Saturday's game against Nippon Ham at Kleenex Stadium.  Shima will foot the entire bill -- about 1.5M yen for tickets and ten buses.  Source: Sports Hochi 7/13/2012, Daily Sports 7/13/2012

Chiba Lotte Marines

Today's Birthdays: Tatsuya Uchi (27)

Yuki Karakawa's right elbow is feeling better, but he is still not able to throw the ball.  Karakawa was originally slated to return to the active roster in time for a start against Softbank on Saturday, but that has now been pushed back until the Rakuten series (July 16-18, at QVC Marine).

Seth Greisinger was scratched from his start today because of tightness in his back.
