Chunichi Dragons

Pitching coach Hiroshi Gondo on the current closing situation, via Sports Hochi, "The time has come to think about other possibilities.  With regards to the last person we use.  Up until now, we used [Iwase] without much though, but we will think about righty and lefty match-ups."

Hanshin Tigers

Tomoaki Kanemoto was selected as the Hanshin Tigers, Sports Hochi Series MVP.  Kanemoto went 11-for-38 (.289) with two homers and eight RBI during the twelve games at Koshien between June 8 and July 15.  Kanemoto was presented with sake and a plaque during a pre-game ceremony on Tuesday.  Source: Sports Hochi Osaka 7/18/2012

Ryota Arai's homer on Tuesday (5th inning, off Yomiuri's Dicky Gonzalez) was the franchise's 7,000th homer since the two league format began in 1950, and 7,365th homer since the team was first established in 1936.  Source: Nikkan Sports 7/12/2012

Hiroshima Carp

The Carp will finished at or above .500 for the first half of the season for the first time since 2002.

They also executed the NPB's first walk-off squeeze play since September 16, 1996 (Lotte vs Orix).  In the CL: August 13, 1994 (Hiroshima vs Yakult).  NOTE: the play on Tuesday did end up as a single in the box score, but it was executed as a squeeze.
