Notes

Yakult: Ishikawa took the loss and is 6-7 in sixteen games.  His two-game winning streak (over four starts) came to an end. ... The Swallows dropped their third straight, all to Yokohama.  They were also handed their fourteenth shutout loss of the year. ... The offense left at least one runner on base in every inning (and two or more runners in six innings).

Yokohama: F. Kobayashi made his second start of the year and got the win.  He is now 1-1 in twenty-three games. ... Takajo became the first player Yokohama drafted in 2011 to make his Ichi-gun debut. ... Ishikawa left the game after he hurt his right hand when he tried to hit an inside pitch and instead took the pitch of his hand.  He did not leave the game immediately -- they worked on his hand, he returned, hit a single to center, and was then replaced by a pinch-runner. ... The Bay Stars won their third in row (all against Yakult; first series sweep of the season).  They also recorded their fourth shutout victory of the season.

This is the game I look forward to watching tonight. The Swallows don’t want to enter the break by getting swept by the worst team in league. The Bay Stars are hitting well enough to win this game even with Kobayashi due to start the game. Expecting quite a few runs in this game!

I hope so Nathan, last night was a great game and i think a win (sweep) will give the Baystars some momentum down the stretch……

DeNA gave up 12 hits and 4 bases on balls and shut out Yakult.

I hope something bad won’t happen to Japan.

I will never understand this 2012 Swallows team. They should be SO much better than they are playing. I hope they can get their act together in the second half.

The younger arms (Nakamura and Akagawa) aren’t pitching like aces by any stretch of imagination. They are probably underperforming in most people’s eyes, although I think how they are performing right now = reality. Older ones aren’t great either, so their pitching is really average.

Their hitting seemed to be getting it together, but nope. Just very inconsistent.

Why aren’t the Baystars using Gio Alvarado? His record is not good but that’s because most of his early season losses were due to a lack of run support. He is an excellent pitcher and should be out there, now that they are scoring some runs i think he will be start winning!
