Tomotaka Sakaguchi suffered a right acromioclavicular joint dislocation while making a diving catch in a game against the Yomiuri Giants on May 17. The team was originally informed it would take about ten weeks for a full recovery. But Sakaguchi only recently (July 11) added bats and baseballs to his workouts. On Sunday, he threw lollipops during a game of catch at a distance of about twenty meters. He also did not swing the bat at full speed during soft-toss batting practice.
"I should be getting at bats as a pinch-hitter in Ni-gun games right now. But I only just started adding some baseball workouts to my routine. ... I need to bring everything back up before I can be of any help to the team," said Sakaguchi.
