Chunichi Dragons

Hitoki Iwase faced ten batters during live batting practice at Nagoya Stadium on Thursday and gave up two could-be hits on about thirty pitches.  He is expected to rejoin the Ichi-gun team today.  Source: Nikkan Sports 8/17/2012

Yomiuri Giants

The Giants (0-2-6) and the Hiroshima Carp (0-3-6) are the only two teams in the NPB that have not won a game in extra-innings this season.  The franchise record of nine extra-inning games without a victory, from the start of a season, was set in 1950 (0-3-6).  The 2009 Giants also started things off with eight extra-inning games without a victory (0-2-6).  Source: Sponichi 8/17/2012

Jason Standridge was taken off the active roster on Thursday in order to give him a chance to take a step away from things and refocus -- he lost his fifth straight start on Wednesday with one of his worst outings of the season: 3 IP, 55 NP, 5 H, 1 HR, 1 SO, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 6 R, 6 ER.  Standridge will remain with the Ichi-gun team.  Source: Sanspo 8/17/2012

Yokohama Bay Stars

A cicada on landed on Kiyoshi Nakahata's cap during Thursday's game against Hanshin -- he only realized something was wrong when he caught people in the dugout laughing.  Source: Nikkan Sports 8/17/2012


The Bay Stars gave Norihiro Nakamura the night off on Wednesday because of pain in his right elbow -- it was beginning to interfere with his swing.

Taketoshi Goto left Wednesday's game a little early after he felt discomfort in his left leg (groin area) during his at bat in the 8th inning.
