Tickets for the final home series of the 2012 season have been selling well since Hiroki Kokubo announced his upcoming retirement.  A team spokesperson told reporters they were selling about seven to eight times more tickets than prior to Kokubo's announcement.  Source: Nikkan Sports 8/17/2012

Orix Buffaloes

Kei Igawa was taken off the active roster on Thursday with a left flank injury.  He originally suffered the injury during a game on August 2 and followed up with poor starts on August 8 (vs Rakuten, 4.2 IP, 112 NP, 10 H, 2 SO, 3 BB, 8 R, 7 ER) and 15 (vs Seibu, 3 IP, 71 NP, 6 H, 4 SO, 3 BB, 8 R, 8 ER).

Igawa will remain with the Ichi-gun team as he makes his way back.

Rakuten Eagles

Yoshinao Kamata joined Masahiro Tanaka as the only Rakuten rookies drafted out of high school to record their first career shutout victories in the tenth games of their Ichi-gun careers.  Kamata also joined four other pitchers drafted out of high school to record 1-0 shutout victories in their rookie seasons (since the start of the draft): Toshiaki Moriyasu (twice in 1966), Tsuneo Horiuchi (three times in 1966), Kenjiro Kawasaki (1989) and Daisuke Matsuzaka (April 27, 1999).

Chiba Lotte Marines

Wil Ledezma will be with the team during their road trip to Sapporo (August 17-19).  Norifumi Nishimura told reporters on Thursday that Ledezma could join the active roster depending on how his workouts with the Ichi-gun team go.  Source: Sponichi 8/17/2012
