The Eighth Georgia Award for 2012 went to Hayato Sakamoto for his game against the Hanshin Tigers on July 7.

Sakamoto went 3-for-4 at the plate.  He also made a big defensive play in the top of the 8th: with the bases loaded and one out, he made a nice pick on a grounder hit by Shinjiro Hiyama back up the middle and managed to get the throw off to Takayuki Terauchi at second in time to turn a double play.  Georgia video - Box score
