The media learned on Thursday that two Shizuoka high schools -- Fujinomiya Higashi and Hamamatsu Kogyo -- withdrew from the Fall Tokai Regional Shizuoka Tournament Qualifiers due cases of bullying.

At Hanamatsu, one student has been bullying another since the spring.  Acts included verbal and physical (like kicking) abuse.  The incidents came to light when a caretaker approached the high school in July.  Hanamatsu withdrew from the tournament with the hope that is serves as a wake-up call to everyone on the team.

At Fujinomiya, a number of upper class students were repeatedly committing acts of violence toward lower class students.  The high school withdrew from the tournament because it took the matter very seriously and did not want any repeat incidents.
