Hanshin Tigers: GM Katsuhiro Nakamura on Kyuji Fujikawa and the clean-up spot
by Gen on Sep.09, 2012 @ 4:06 pm, under NPB
Below are some of the things GM Katsuhiro Nakamura has spoken about over the last couple of days. Some of these things were brought up during an appearance on MBS' Seyanen on Saturday morning. Others are comments to the media.
... Even though Nakamura realizes there is probably little chance in retaining Kyuji Fujikawa's services past this season -- based on things he has heard -- he would still like to sit down and talk to the right-hander at some point to confirm where things are.
The team is considering internal options and also keeping an eye on Ryota Igarashi.
Incidentally, scouts from the Red Sox, Diamondbacks, Astros, and Phillies have been spotted at the Hanshin-Chunichi games at Nagoya Dome.

... Nakamura is looking for a "real" clean-up hitter. It seems he thinks there is a good chance it will be a foreign player. Matt Murton and Craig Brazell have been mentioned as possibilities (assuming they return). They could also turn to new foreign talent. Source: Sanspo 9/9/2012
