According to Nikkan Sports, Shohei Otani may have decided to play in the US and will be sitting down with his high school manager, Hiroshi Sasaki, to finalize his decision. People around him may have suggested that he begin his career in Japan, but the high school senior likely decided to chase his dreams of playing in the Majors, even if it means he begins at the minor league level.
Otani could make an announcement of his decision on Saturday or Sunday.

Interestingly enough, Sports Hochi is carrying a story that reports the exact opposite: Otani has decided to stay in Japan and will make an announcement of his decision early next week.
Otani reportedly met with high school manager Sasaki on the 14th to discuss his plans. While he has not given up on his dreams of playing in the Majors, he was apparently concerned about having his parents travel with him to the US and may have been worried about the effects of becoming the first high school player to skip out on the NPB draft to play in the US.
The high school prospect is scheduled to meet with his family and will make an official announcement as early as the 22nd.
