Hanshin Tigers' GM Katsuhiro Nakamura told reporters that he plans to meet Kosuke Fukudome some time in early November.  He also said that no progress has been made since their first meeting.  The Tigers are expected to sweeten their deal with additional bonuses/incentives.  If they fail to land Fukudome, they will most likely go after another foreign player.  Source: Sanspo 10/20/2012

The Tigers may sit down with Ryota Igarashi sometime this coming week -- Igarashi's agent is scheduled to arrive in Japan shortly.

Hanshin has already spoken to Igarashi once earlier this month.  They are expected to present an official offer during this next meeting.

Other teams, like the Softbank Hawks, may also be interested in the thirty-three-year-old pitcher.

Nikkan Sports makes note of a few NY reporters that mention Ichiro:

  • the Daily News' Anthony Mccarron - might be ok if he is willing to accept a one-year deal worth about US$5M (around 400M yen)
  • the Bergen Records' Pete Caldera - something might be worked out if he is ok with an incentive-based deal
  • the New York Post's George A. King - possible fit if he is ok with not being guaranteed an everyday position
  • Newsday's Erik Boland - there is little chance at him returning because the Yankees are trying to get younger

According to Sanspo, Hiroki Kuroda might be worth a one-year deal in the neighborhood of US$15M (about 1.185B yen).  Source: Sanspo 10/20/2012

Nikkan Sports figures he could be worth between the US$10M he made this season and around US$12M (about 960M yen).  Source: Nikkan Sports 10/20/2012

In both cases, it seems likely he will remain with the New York Yankees.

Sponichi also notes that Hiroshima may get involved again.  Source: Sponichi 10/20/2012
