Updates on Samurai Japan from October 20:

  • Samurai Japan has already submitted formal invitations to Japanese MLB player like Ichiro, Norichika Aoki, Munenori Kawasaki, Yu Darvish, Hiroki Kuroda, and Hisashi Iwakuma. Source: Sponichi 10/20/2012
  • Daily Sports mentions five Japanese MLB player names: Ichiro, Kuroda, Darvish, Aoki, and Iwakuma.  No mention of Kawasaki.  It seems Samurai Japan has also given up on Hideki Matsui, since his status for 2013 is still unknown.  Sadaharu Oh could step in and attempt to persuade Ichiro to play.  Source: Daily Sports 10/20/2012
  • Koji Yamamoto would like to make Koji Uehara the closer for Samurai Japan.  Uehara has refrained from stating whether or not he will play.  Source: Sponichi 10/20/2012
  • Yamamoto was a guest on Nippon Hoso's Terry Ito's Friday Scoop Sokomadeiyuka! (テリー伊藤のフライデースクープ そこまで言うか!) and said that the NPB submitted paperwork to the MLB about Japanese players they wanted to add to the roster.  Source: Daily Sports 10/20/2012
