Hiroki Kokubo told reporters on Saturday he thinks Seiichi Uchikawa would be a good option to take over as the next team captain. He also said that Nobuhiko Matsunaka wants to take over at first.
"This is something the manager will decide, but... It seems Nobuhiko wants to play first base next year and may not have time [to worry about being a captain]. That means Seiichi might be the best option. He is really an amazing right-handed hitter. He is pulling the younger players together now, but I would like to see him become the player that pulls the entire team together," said Kokubo.
Kokubo is in the process of writing on autobiography.
