Hanshin Tigers

Ryota Arai tweaked his left flank during fall workouts at Koshien Stadium today.  Arai was taking grounders at third.  He started complaining of pain in his left flank after making a throw to first.  The team trainer said he could walk but could not do any twisting motions.  The team will wait to see how Arai is doing over the next couple of days before deciding what to do next (which could also include a hospital visit).  Source: Nikkan Sports 10/24/2012

Chief batting coach Jitsuo Mizutani wants players to focus on taking good cuts at the plate.

"They need to be able to take good swings against pitchers, otherwise they will not develop.  And if they foul pitches off, they need to foul them off hard.  I do not care about the hits.  They just need to focus on what they are doing right now," said Mizutani.
