Updates about the Samurai Japan roster that plays two games against Cuba in November:

  • Yudai Ono will most likely take Soma Yamauchi's (left leg) spot on the roster.  Source: Nikkan Sports 10/29/2012, Sponichi 10/29/2012
  • If Seiichi Uchikawa is selected to play, he plans on turning down the invite because his right ring finger has not fully healed -- he suffered an avulsion fracture in August.  Kenji Otonari, Masahiko Morifuku, Nobuhiro Matsuda, and Yuichi Honda are expected to make the team.  Source: Sanspo 10/29/2012

While not specifically a Samurai Japan update...  Ryuya Ogawa could be selected to the WBC roster for the Philippines since his mother is Filipino.  The Dragons have yet to receive any official notices, but do not plan on blocking his participation.  Source: Nikkan Sports 10/29/2012

  1. OHAHA

Junji Ogawa or Ryuya? Google says it’s ryuya. And I am a filipino and I really don’t know if the Philippine team is considering joining the WBC because there’s no news about it here.
