woolala.
Well that was interesting for about an hour?
I don’t quite understand why the umpire called the ball Tadano threw to Katoh a deadball??
The commentators thought Kato’s reaction played a big role in the home plate ump’s decision. The fan reaction during Kato’s next at bat was somewhat surprising, although I suppose somewhat understandable.
Yeah, I think Katoh over-reacted, and if I were at the dome I would boo, too (though I am quite enjoying the Giants’ baseball this game).
But the booing seemed to spur Kato who wounded up hitting a solid line drive that bounced against the wall to drive into two more runs. So everything went his way in this game. The whole situation around the deadball reminded me of “In the woods” by Ryunosuke Akutagawa.
I think it’s a bad appreciation. He ruled that the ball hit his hand before it hit his bat. But I’ve watched some umpires ruling that way on MLB, Cuba and Panama. I don’t agree with them.
He called it by hearing the sound of the ball hitting flesh and bone instead of the bat and he’s closer although TV showed something that seems to be different.
Thanks for the explanation. I do think that baseball should apply challenge/appeal system like tennis does.
Yeah, the call does not change the result anyway as the Giants totally rule the game.
it was a terrible call. it didn’t hit katoh’s hand, it didn’t even graze his bat. and most definitely not his helmet even though katoh acted the part. tadano should not have been thrown out for a dangerous pitch
your are right, ken. It didn’t hit katoh or the bat. He even dodge it. I feel sorry for tadano for that call.
Awful call, I don’t care what it hit. The ball started in the middle of the plate and tailed to the inside corner. Seriously ridiculous to kick out the pitcher, dangerous bunting style, if anything
Anyway this one belongs to Kyojin and still they’re doing runs.
Katoh should try to be an actor after his baseball career. He will be a good talent.
