The Tigers heard that Kosuke Fukudome's family wants to live in the Tokyo area. If Fukudome signs and his family decides to live in Tokyo, the organization will do there best to provide the veteran with whatever support he needs, including a hotel he can stay at during home games during the season (for road games in Kanto, he will be allowed to stay with his family) and a personal concierge. Said GM Katsuhiro Nakamura about negotiations, "We can not afford to bargain with [Fukudome], but we have to stay within our budget. If it does not work out, then we have no choice but to give up." Source: Sports Hochi 11/25/2012

GM Nakamura also told reporters on Saturday that he is not looking into outfielders on the foreign market at this time because they have Hayata Ito. And if the team fails to land Fukudome, Ito could get a shot at the everyday job in right.
The Tigers may also hold off on signing other additional foreign players for the time being because they already have four on the roster: Matt Murton, Randy Messenger, Jason Standridge, and Brooks Conrad.
