1st round draft pick Shohei Otani will probably toss at least one bullpen session before the start of spring camp.  Source: Nikkan Sports 1/20/2013

Otani took live batting practice in the indoor training facilities at Kamagaya today for the first time since the start of rookie camp.  He took a total nineteen swings.  Source: Nikkan Sports 1/20/2013

Otani will likely start the year at Ni-gun spring camp, but could make his debut, as a hitter, during a practice game against Hanshin on February 10.  Source: Sports Hochi 1/20/2013

Sponichi thinks Otani could make his debut (most likely as a DH) on either February 20 (vs Yakult) or February 21 (vs Nexen - KBO).  Source: Sponichi 1/20/2013

Depending on how things go over the next couple of years, Nippon Ham could put Otani in some of their product commercials.  Source: Sports Hochi 1/20/2013
