1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami on his bullpen sessions: "I never threw more than 100 pitches in the bullpen when I was in high school. Maybe, at most, a little over sixty. I do not know professional pitch counts." Source: Sanspo 1/24/2013
Fujioka started mixing off-speed pitches while playing catch today. At a distance of about twenty meters, he threw about ten (curve, slider, fork). Source: Nikkan Sports 1/24/2013

There is a good chance Fujinami could make his debut during an exhibition game against the Chunichi Dragons on March 6. He will likely start with batting practice sessions in late February and work his way into games in March. Source: Sports Hochi 1/24/2013
Fujinami will not be demoted during Ichi-gun spring camp. He will be the first Tiger drafted out of high school to attend Ichi-gun spring camp in his first year since at least 1985. He could pitch on seven to eight days of rest in between pre-season appearances in March.
Fujinami has tossed eight bullpen sessions during rookie camp so far.
