Matt Murton arrived at Kansai International Airport today.  He spoke to reporters and said that he dropped four to five kilograms during the winter and currently weighs about 100 kilograms.

Kosuke Fukudome took outdoor batting practice for the first time this year at the Nihon Seimei training facilities in Suita, Osaka on Friday.  He took ninety-nine swings and hit four over the fence (all to right).  He also recorded thirty-eight could-be hits.

Kyosuke Sasaki watched over Fukudome's workouts on Friday.

Kazuhito Futagami showed up to workouts at Naruohama on Friday with his hair shaved down.

Daiki Enokida tossed thirty-two pitches to a squatting catcher in the bullpen on Friday.  He also started throwing off-speed pitches -- he threw eight curves.  It was his third session since he had left elbow surgery in September 2012.

Enokida plans to work on his curve because he could be used as a starter this season.  He throws a fastball, curve, slider, cutter, fork, and screwball.

Takahiro Arai will start the year at Ichi-gun spring camp, but will not practice with the rest of the team until at least the third block.  Exactly when will depend on how well he is throwing the ball.

The Tigers are planning to set Arai up with a personal rehab trainer because most of them will be at Ni-gun spring camp.  He is also scheduled to do his rehab training at Kin Stadium with other players like Shinjiro Hiyama.

2012 Draft Class

1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami graduated from Osaka Toin High School today.  He was presented with the Toin Special Honor Award during the graduation ceremony.

2nd round draft pick Fumiya Hojo weighs seventy-six kilograms.  He does not want to lose any weight and plans to do what he can to get to at least seventy-eight kilograms.  Hojo did some tire runs on the last day of rookie camp on Friday.
