Kosuke Fukudome used a one kilogram bat during batting practice on Friday.  He also spent about thirty minutes taking swings against a pitching machine after general workouts.  Fukudome swung the bat 501 times in all (including practice swings).

Tsuyoshi Nishioka attempted a diving catch during situational fielding practice on Friday.  He also swung the bat 108 times during batting practice.

Matt Murton and Brooks Conrad spent time signing autographs for fans.  The fans gave Conrad their first nickname: Con-chan.

1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami handled his first bullpen session extremely well, despite a lot of fanfare: he had about 100 fans to the left of him, 100 members of the media to the right of him, and two of fourteen TV cameras set up behind the catcher.  Incidentally, he was the only pitcher in the bullpen at the time.

Fujinami's cap came off as he threw his forty-fifth pitch during bullpen session today.  The session was supposed to end there, but he was unsatisfied and threw another pitch before calling it a day.

The Ichi-gun pitching staff is split into three groups: A, B, C.  Fujinami was assigned to group B.

Players generally spend most of their day working out with other players in their group, but Fujinami spent most of the time by himself on Friday, getting help from either Kiyooki Nakanishi or Toshiro Yufune (pitching coaches)
