There was some confusion as to how many pitches 1st round draft pick Shohei Otani threw on Sunday. Otani thought he threw thirty-five. The media counted forty-two or forty-eight, and Ni-gun pitching coach Takeharu Kato thought it was thirty-six.
He mixed in eight curves and four sliders.
