Hideki Kuriyama is waiting for younger players to step up (particularly at second and right), but none have so far.  At least not to a point where he feels there is a clear cut winner.

Hey Gen, this is a completely random question, but how is the name Mariko pronounced? Is it MarEEko or MAHriko? I didn’t know where else to ask this so thanks for answering such a random request!

    Geez.

Japanese doesn’t function like English. Mariko? The easiest advice is, try to give equal weight to every syllable.

When a word ends in a vowel, which many Japanese words inevitably do, English (and probably many other European languages) speakers unconsciously tend to put emphasis on the penultimate syllable. Don’t do that in Japanese.
